Ansaldo STS to Supply Signaling System to Brussels Metro

Ansaldo STS has signed a contract worth 88 million euros with the Société des Transports Intercommunaux de Bruxelles (STIB) for the signaling automatization of metro lines 1 and 5 as part of the modernization program of the Brussels metro. The framework agreement also includes the option of the automatization of lines 2 and 6.

As part of the project, Ansaldo STS will supply STIB with its Driverless CBTC based solutions for the East-West metro axis (lines 1 and 5) with a total length of 35.5 km serving 37 stations and a total fleet of 60 trains.

The scope of work encompasses the study, design, production, full integration, tests and commissioning as well as training, maintenance and related services for the trackside and on-board systems and sub-systems.
