Caltrain, the provider of commuter rail service along the San Francisco Peninsula, will be performing pre-construction work within the right-of-way as part of the Peninsula Corridor Electrification Project from now until the end of February.
Caltrain will be working on pre-construction activities, including locating utilities, confirming soil conditions and testing cables. The work will mostly take place during the day, but there will be some night activities. Caltrain may also do some single-tracking during non-peak hours. Passengers should be aware of signs at the stations letting them know what platform to board on.
Once pre-construction is completed, the project team will start construction-related activities in spring/summer 2017. The pre-construction and full construction work is updated weekly on the Caltrain website.
PCEP will improve Caltrain system performance and reduce long-term environmental impacts. The PCEP is scheduled to be operational by winter 2020/2021.
