FreightCar America, Inc. has named James “Jim” America vice president human resources, effective August 29, 2016.
He previously served as a human resources executive at Carpenter Technology, where he worked to establish their facility in Athens, Ala. Prior to that, America served as vice president human resources at Colonial Pipeline, U.S. Pipe and Foundry, and he served as the deputy director of Alabama’s State Docks and as assistant director of the Alabama Development Office. He began his career at Monsanto and DuPont as a process engineer before moving into human resources.
“We are extremely pleased to have Jim join FreightCar America as our new vice president human resources. We are confident that Jim will be an inspirational leader, who enhances the company’s organizational capability through the implementation of best practices in human resources policies and programs,” said Joseph E. McNeely, president and chief executive officer.
America earned a bachelor of science degree from Auburn University and a master of arts degree from Birmingham-Southern College.
“The entire FreightCar America team is extremely excited about the wealth of experience Jim brings to FreightCar and we look forward to a long, productive relationship,” added McNeely.
