Metrolinx Continues Revitalizing GO Union Station Platforms

Beginning December 19, Metrolinx, the transportation agency for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), will be using different platforms for some weekday GO Transit trains departing Union Station. The agency is working on the next phase of construction on the station train shed roof as part of its multi-year Union Station Revitalization Project. There will not be any GO train schedule modifications related to these platform closures.

Work will take place on tracks 4 and 5 and adjoining platforms 7 through 10. These tracks and platforms will be closed to refurbish the train shed’s existing steel structure and install new expansion joint seals to prevent water leaks, after which a new roof will be installed over the tracks and platform. Tracks 6 and 7 and adjoining passenger platforms 11 through 13 will reopen now that the revitalization work on these tracks has been completed.

Union Station is nearly 90-years-old and is designated as a National Historic Site of Canada. The station is Canada’s busiest transportation hub, serving more than 200,000 GO Transit customers every weekday.
