The Maryland Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) has resumed Baltimore Metro Subway service on August 14 from the Milford Mill to Mondawmin stations. The line was partially shut down for 23 days to replace and repair major rail components.
“We are pleased to report that this critical maintenance work was completed ahead of schedule and under budget,” said Paul Comfort, MTA administrator and CEO. “I’d like to thank our customers for their patience during this important safety project. We are pleased they will have an enhanced experience as a result of this essential rail work.”
Repair work included rail replacement, track maintenance, station improvements, and reconstructing three interlockings. An interlocking is a rail component that allows trains to cross over from one track to another.
Because of the major maintenance work on Metro Subway, there was no train service to the Reisterstown Plaza, Rogers Avenue and West Cold Spring stations from July 22 to August 13. MTA provided local and express shuttle buses linking the Metro Subway service from Milford Mill Station south to Mondawmin Station.
