CSX Listed on Dow Jones Sustainability Index for North America

For the sixth consecutive year, CSX has been named on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for North America, which recognizes companies that use sustainable and responsible business practices. CSX was the only U.S.-based railroad and one of only three transportation companies included on the 2016 North American index.

Michael J. Ward, CSX chairman and CEO, said, “Achieving the ‘right results, the right way’ is one of CSX’s core values, and we aim to live that value every day as we safely and efficiently move the goods that are essential to our communities. By operating with respect for customers, employees, neighbors and the environment, we’re able to create sustainable, long-term value for our investors.”

CSX was noted on the DJSI for high performance in corporate governance; supply chain management; corporate citizenship and philanthropy; and several areas of environmental performance, including environmental policy and management systems, fuel efficiency and operational eco-efficiency. The railroad's sustainability information can be found in its Corporate Social Responsibility Report.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Index is a partnership between the Dow Jones Indexes and RobecoSAM Sustainability Assessments, which tracks companies' commitments, performance and disclosures related to economic, environmental and social criteria.
