Reading & Northern Raises Track Speed on Portions of Main Line

The Reading & Northern Railroad, a privately held railroad in eastern Pennsylvania, has announced that, for the first time in 25 years, track speed on a portion of its Main Line has been raised to 40 miles per hour. This will cut travel time from Reading to Port Clinton by approximately 7 minutes.

Raising speeds requires quality track, annual X-ray of rail, and other track work. Reading & Northern notes that it will continue to upgrade the entire 115 mile Main Line, resulting in substantial productivity increases.
