The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) has named Lois Pittman director of operations and maintenance, responsible for the operation of Tri-Rail, South Florida’s only commuter rail system.
In her new role, Pittman will be responsible for oversight of SFRTA’s operations and maintenance providers, executing contractual deliverables, including bringing special and capital rehabilitation projects in on time and within budget. In addition, she will be responsible for station maintenance, fleet maintenance, and the SFRTA’s free feeder/shuttle bus.
Pittman, who joined SFRTA in April 2017 as the manager of operations and maintenance, was promoted to director in March 2018. Prior to joining SFRTA, she served as rail transportation manager at the Chicago Transit Authority. She also held positions with Norfolk Southern Railroad, Canadian National Railway, and BNSF Railway.
Pittman earned a psychology degree from Prairie State College and a bachelor of science in Business Management from Capella University. In September 2016, she became a Certified Train Operator through the Chicago Transit Authority.
