Jacksonville, Fla.-based Southwest Signal Engineering has changed its name to Xorail Inc. in a bid to rebrand the company as a nationwide firm with offerings beyond signaling. There will be no changes in management or personnel related to the new name, the company said.
Southwest Signal Engineering began operations in Jacksonville in 1990 and has grown to 240 employees with offices in ten states. The move comes six months after the company formed a new construction subsidiary, XoRail Construction Services, targeting the rail construction sector.
Company President Kash Krishnarao said the renaming "reflects the fact that our company is no longer just a signal engineering company, nor is it just located in the Southwest. Xorail (pronounced Zo-rail) is a nationwide company that has capabilities of providing cradle-to-grave signal and communication services to railroads, commuter agencies and other industries."
