Transdev has started operations of the new 2.5 miles Milwaukee streetcar line, following the official grand opening ceremony, where Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, other city leaders and dignitaries, and city residents took an inaugural ride.
Transdev, as part of a five-year contract with Milwaukee’s Department of Public Works, will oversee all aspects of service operations, including overall system performance, customer care and safety. Under Transdev’s oversight, Brookville, which manufactured the streetcars, will manage vehicle maintenance.
The streetcar line extends through downtown and will be served by a total of five vehicles.
“We have a strong team in Milwaukee and are committed to providing first-rate service,” said Duane Eskierka, Transdev’s Transportation and Performance business unit president. “I look forward to the enhancements and improved efficiency we will implement over time to benefit passengers and our client. We are committed to continuing to build a strong partnership with the Milwaukee Department of Public Works and to helping them achieve their goals.”
Transdev is a provider of multi-modal mobility solutions.
