Luke McCaul
Transdev, a private-sector operator of transit in North America, has announced the appointment of Luke McCaul as general manager of Cincinnati Bell Connector operations, a streetcar running a 3.6-mile loop in the city. He replaces Interim General Manager Mark Young, effective immediately.
“We are impressed with Luke’s focus on the details that translate to daily operating success,” stated Ken Westbrook, Transdev’s rail division president. “He understands at every level how to build and maintain a successful system — from enhanced customer service and uncompromising safety practices, to encouraging discussions with front-line employees. We are thrilled he is part of the team.”
McCaul previously worked for more than 15 years at Pan Am Railways, a regional railroad based near Boston. He served as train operations manager, assistant director, general superintendent and, most recently, general manager. As general manager of operations, McCaul was responsible for the daily operation of 136 passenger trains and more than 60 freight trains in urban and suburban rail environments. He also managed 150 employees in all customer service and operational areas.
McCaul has knowledge of best practices for compliance with regulations of both the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). His primary focus in his former positions has been on safe operations and quality service.
McCaul is an active member of the American Association of Railroad Superintendents, Boston Street Railway Historical Society and the New England Electric Railway Historical Society.
